Happiness is... Buying Baby Onions at a Farmers Market

I'm always so excited when the winter is over and the warm weather activities, like Farmers Markets, are available again.  This year is even more exciting because we've had a year of restrictions.  A lot of people moan about the changes..  that we still need to wear masks and practice social distancing.  Personally, I'm not bothered by these things.  Life will find a new normal. I'm just very relieved that some of my favorite Boulder places, are once again, open for business!

To celebrate the beautiful weather and our recent vaccinations, my friend, Cathy and I had fun in downtown Boulder on Saturday.

I took so many pictures that I could easily fill this blog post raving about all the happy sights and experiences of that day.  In fact, I'm thinking I might offer Downtown Boulder Tours as an AirBnB Experience! However, I'm trying to limit these daily blog posts to one quotidian event, so I'll stay focused on the Farmers Market and my purchase!

I just love Farmers Markets! All the booths are set up with their various, colorful wares.  There are usually food trucks and music, and vendors of all sorts. Who can resist the beauty of freshly grown fruits and vegetables?  I admit, Saturday was much more sparse than usual..  I'm not sure if it was because it was so early in the season or because there are still Covid precautions, but one benefit is that there were no crowds or lines...  something that usually stops me from making any purchases.

But I was prepared and hoping to buy something on Saturday.  One of my April goals is to do some gardening, and here was my opportunity!

As you may have surmised from the title of this post, I ended up buying onions. For only $4 I was able to buy a pot that had about 25 little onion seedlings! I separated and replanted them this morning in my back yard garden.

Gardening is not exactly one of my top skills, but the farmer who sold them to me told me they were simple to grow. With any luck, I'll be back in a couple of months with a picture of a full-grown onion!
